Fund raising reaches first milestone

Set a target of £15,000 in order to fund restoration of the Pavilion the Club Chairman Ian Widdowson reports that funds have reached the first target of £5,000 which allows work to commence on the pavilion roof.

Fund raising started in July when the club co-hosted a Fete at the ground raising over £1,000 to set the ball rolling.  This acted as a catalyst proving what can be achieved and a committee was formed at a recent EGM to co-ordinate a series of events aimed at maintaining the fund raising momentum.

The club is very grateful for donations received from members and Vice Presidents in recent weeks which have contributed in excess of £1,000 to the fund.  To this can be added £2,000 which has been promise by Penn Parish Council specifically towards replacement of the roof.

The first £5,000 raised has been put to good use with the completion of extensive repairs to the pavillion roof in October, 2001.

This is only the beginning both in terms of fund raising and working parties and John Folkard is looking for volunteers to set to work on the pavilion as soon as the work on the roof has been completed.  If you want to volunteer to join the winter working parties Email John ->

Details of events and progress reports on the pavillion repairs will be posted here in future months.
